Explanation Writing Paragraph 2

IALT: Try Explain How The See Structure Works

Hello everyone I Have been working on my writing and I have been writing my first paragraph. In this first paragraph I needed to write my statement - Inform the reader what the topic of the paragraph is about, Write my explanation - Explain more about the topic, My Example - Back up the explanation with evidence it's true, Effect - When this happens how does it effect other things.

Tsunami are mostly caused by Earthquakes that move the oceans floor. This refers to the Earth made up of these large pieces called tectonic plates. Usually grinding or moving together, or sometimes they would get stuck. When this happens the pressure builds and suddenly the plates get moved into a new position. For example let's say that the Earth is staying still and then suddenly two tectonic plates suddenly shift together, this creates energy waves underwater which reach up to the surface which reach up to the surface this makes the water rise above it’s normal sea level which creates a huge wave which is known to be called a Tsunami. Another example of this is if the water along the shoreline moved back dramatically, it most likely means that a tsunami will occur in just a few seconds or minutes. A Tsunami is not just one wave but it’s a series of waves or a wave train. This means that Tsunamis are most likely created by Earthquakes.

Tuakana Teina day

Tuakana Teina day

Walt: Reflect on what we did on tuakana teina day 

Last Tuesday me and my class had tuakana teina day and my buddies were Sofele, Aletheia, Bianna and Aja. First of all we first did a presentation more about us and things like our favourite colours, what house were in. If you don't know what I mean by houses, So basically there 4 house teams in our schools, these houses are the roads close to our school if we live close to one of these roads were in that team or we get to choose our team. So that's how it works. After that we had to go i a circle and say these things with our buddie. Then we went with our buddies outside to do some P.E. First we did some exercise activities then we went and ran on the track two times.

After morning tea we did this puzzle activity with our buddies we had to move around with our buddie with a paper and solve a puzzle with the clues around our class. After that room 5 came and we had some fun with them. After that we had lunch. After lunch we had some fun with a dress up 
activity.

Kiwisports

Kiwisports

Walt: reflect on what we did in kiwisport

On Monday we did kiwi sports, and for kiwisport we had boxing. Our instructors name is coach pax. She firstly told us the 3 commandments (rules) she had for us. The first one was discipline which was meaning to come to kiwisport lesson and never be late. The second commandment was Respect which was referring to always respecting others, yourself and teachers, and the last commandment was safety which was meaning to never use these movements to harm anybody.   

After that we played this game called knee tag which is when we had to use our punching gloves to tag each others knees and to try not to be tagged was to use the space we had to try get away from each other. when you get tagged the other person gets a point and they start all over again. 

After all of that we worked on our stances and our hitting. Which we jabs, jab cross and combo.

What I found challenging about this was playing the game knee tag, I found this challenging because how our partners were moving and blocking their knees most of the time. I enjoyed learning the different hitting moves in this activity. My next learning steps for this is to maybe put more effort in what I am doing so my teacher won't tell me to try harder


Natural Disasters - Cyclone

Hello everyone today I have been working on finding a definition on cyclones. In my group was Lydia, Coralee and Suave. We were first given an article and we had to find all the key information and key ideas and put them all together. When we found all of them we had to sequence all of them. After we sequenced them we had to find all the key information in that and put it all together to make it shorter. It was really hard but we finally got through it.

What I found challenging about this was trying to find all right information and not information that was unnecessary. What I enjoyed about this was the new information about cyclones I learnt. I think my new learning steps are trying to learn all the different countries cyclones were in

Maths Reflection


Maths Reflection

Hello everyone I have been doing maths with my class and I have been playing maths games and I have been playing decimal games with my group. My group was playing a game when you have cards and you had to read them and pass them over to each other.

What I found challenging about this was trying to add all the decimals and see the right card to go to. What I enjoyed about this was how challenging it was. My next learning steps are working on my decimals and fractions more.

Tectonic plates are the things that the Earth is made out of and the things that are thought to create some natural disasters such as earthquakes such as volcanic eruptions, earthquakes and tsunamis.

This morning I have been learning about the Earth's layers and the things they are made out of. There are 4 layers in the Earth the Crust, the Mantle, the Outer core and the Inner Core. These layers all have similarities and differences. These things are types of scientific elements, like Iron, Allinumian, Magma and so much more.



I enjoyed learning about these things and how much importance they have to the Earth then we thought they did. What I found challenging about this was the activity we had to do which was the map pieces we had to put together. My next learning steps for this is to next time listen more to the video so I could pick up so key information and important things.

Good morning everyone Today I am going to be going to school today and it's a special day today it's time for whanau conference this is a time for you and your parents to go and see how your learning is going.

The teachers said when you do this you need your parent and you both at the conference. I am really looking forward to going to school today. I think we are going to be working on our school topic natural disasters and our maths. We are going to be finishing school at 12:00 today. I think my next learning of this is trying to go to school early.
